These are nett death-rates. The rates for years previous to
1905 are not comparable, as it is not possible now to obtain the
numbers so as to apply the correction for deaths of residents and
non.residents.
Stroud Green has again the lowest death-rate, but the rate has
gone up, being 7.5 this year as compared with 6'9 for 1912. Other
Wards with an increase in the death-rate are Crouch End from 7.4
in 1912 to 8'7 in 1913, Finsbury Park from 13'4 in 1912 to 14.4
in 1913, and West Hornsey from 9'0 in 1912 to 9.3 in 1913.
Finsbury Park has again the highest death-rate for the year,
and also the highest for the 9 years shewn on the table.
In the Highgate Ward the death-rate has fallen from 10.1 in
1912 to 8.3 in 1913, and in East Hornsey Ward from 11.4 in 1912
to 9'1 in 1913. There have also been smaller improvements in the
rates for Muswell Hill, North Haringey and South Haringey.
The accompanying chart shews the Gross Death-rate for the
past 24 years and the Nett and Corrected Death-rate in Hornsey
for the past 9 years:—
