There were 43 specimens sent by Medical practitioners for
examination from suspected cases of Tuberculosis, and 17 miscel
laneous specimens were received and examined.
There were also 31 specimens examined from children suffering
from Ringworm who were scholars at the public elementary
schools.
Altogether 1,882 specimens were examined in the Bacteriological
Laboratory, of which 358 were received from Medical men
praptising in the district. Last year there were 173 specimens
received from Medical practitioners.
There were 1,624 samples of sewage and effluent analysed and
reported on.
There were also 34 samples of drinking water examined, and
in every case the sample was found to be quite satisfactory.
Eleven miscellaneous samples were also examined.
Diseases of Animals Acts.—There were two outbreaks of
Glanders during the year, and 2 horses were destroyed. The
Council paid £10 to the owners as compensation, in accordance
with the Glanders Order, for the loss of these horses.
There were 4 certificates for the movement of swine issued.

The Agreement between the Council and the Commissioner of
Police, for the keep and destruction of stray dogs, expired on the
30th September.
