Cancer.—For the first time for several years the number of
deaths from Cancer has diminished as compared with the previous
year.
There were 75 yeaths registered as due to Cancer in 1909, a
decrease of 9, comparing 1909 with 1908.
Reference to the accompanying chart will shew that there
has been a considerable and fairly regular rise in the death-rate
from Cancer in recent years, and that on previous occasions a drop
in the death-rate has only been of a temporary character.
The death-rate from Cancer rose from 0.38 per thousand
persons living in 1895 to 0.92 in 1908, and now stands at 0.81.
