The admissions were lowest in December (25 cases) and in
August (32 cases), and highest in January and March, when 51
cases were admitted in each month.
Scarlet Fever.—The number of cases of Scarlet Fever notified
in Hornsey during 1908 was 239. and of these 164 (68 per
cent. of those notified) were admitted to the Isolation Hospital.
There were nine deaths from Scarlet Fever in the Hospital
during the year, giving a case mortality of 2.0 per cent. of the
cases of Scarlet Fever under treatment.
Diphtheria.—There were 93 cases of Diphtheria notified in
Hornsey, and of these 51 cases (54 per cent. of those notified) were
admitted to the Isolation Hospital.
There were 8 deaths from Diphtheria in the Hospital, giving
a case mortality of 5.7 per cent, of the cases of Diphtheria under
treatment.
The following table gives the number of cases of Diphtheria
notified in Hornsey, with the death-rate from this disease, the
total number of cases of the disease admitted into Hospital (including
both Hornsey cases and those from other districts), with
the case mortality per cent. of cases of Diphtheria treated in the
Hospital.
