To His Worship the Mayor, the Aldermen, and the Members of
the Council of the Borough of Hornsey.
Gentlemen,
I beg to present to you my Report on the health of the
Borough of Hornsey for the year 1908.
Hornsey still retains her position as holding the lowest deathrate
among the great towns of England and Wales. The corrected
death-rate is a little lower than last year, and very nearly
the lowest on record.
Infectious disease has been less prevalent than in 1907, which
was itself much under the average year in the number of cases
notified.
I should like to call attention also to the extremely low
Infantile mortality. This is the lowest ever recorded in Hornsey,
or I imagine in any large town.
I am, Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
HAROLD COATES, M.D., D.P.H.
