VESTRY OF ST. MARY, ISLINGTON.
Gentlemen,
I submit herewith the statistics of births, deaths, and marriages
registered in Islington during the year 1886 (which for the purposes
of Registration consisted of 52 weeks, ending the 1st January, 1887),
and also the details of our sanitary work (in accordance with
the requirements of the Act of Parliament) for the year ending
March 25th, 1887.

The marriage-rate in Islington during 1886 was therefore 13 3
per 1,000 of the population, against 143 in 1885 and 15.5 in
each of the two previous years.

The birth-rate is 300 per 1,000 of the population, against 30.3
in 1885 and 32 3 in 1884. This is the smallest birtli-rate ever
recorded in our Parish, the rate being even slightly below that of
the previous year.
I now give in tabular form the birth-rates for the last twentyone
years, with certain statistical details arising therefrom.
