VESTRY OF ST. MARY, ISLINGTON.
Gentlemen,
I submit herewith the statistics of births, deaths, and
marriages for the year ending December 30th, 1882, and also the details of
our sanitary work (in accordance with the requirements of the Act of
Parliament) for the year ending March 25th, 1883.

The marriage-rate in Islington during 1882 was therefore 161 per
1000 of the population, being identical with that of last year.

The birth-rate is 34.3 per 1000 of the population, against 35.0 in
1881, and 35.5 in 1880. This is the smallest birth-rate recorded in our
parish since the year 1858.
I now give in tabular form the birth-rates for the last twenty-one
years, with certain statistical details arising therefrom.
