TO THE
VESTRY OF ST. MARY, ISLINGTON.
Gentlemen,
I beg to submit to you the statistics of births, deaths,
and marriages for the year ending December 31st, 1880, and the
details of our sanitary work (in accordance with the requirements
of the Act of Parliament) for the year ending March 25th, 1881.

The marriage rate in Islington is therefore 15.3 per 1000 of
the population, against 15.8 of last year. This falling off of the
marriage rate of the district is a matter to be deplored.

The birth-rate is 34.3 per 1,000 of the population, against 35.7
in 1879, and 35.1 in 1878. This is the smallest birth-rate ever
recorded in our parish.
I now give in tabular form the birth-rates for the last twenty
one years, with certain statistical details arising therefrom.
