against 363 per 1,000 in 1876, and 35.6 per 1,000 in 1877. The

was 4.298.
In London 129,184 births were registered. The birth rate,
therefore, for all London was 36.2 per 1,000, the natural increase

During the year 1,142,525 births were registered in the
United Kingdom, and 716,165 deaths. This gives, therefore, a
natural increase of the population of 426,360.
I append a table giving certain details since 1857 of the birth
rate in our parish, and its relationship to the death rate as shown
by the excess of registered births over registered deaths.
