REPORT
on the
SANITARY CONDITION OF ST. MARY, ISLINGTON
FOR AUGUST, 1872.
No. CIII.
The total number of deaths during the four weeks ending August
24th, namely, 347, is smaller than the number for the same month was
in 1870 and 71, the reason being that our comparative immunity from
epidemic diseases still continues; the amount of seasonal Diarrhoea is
rather high, and is as usual very fatal to infants under 1 year of age:
Small-Pox shows again to a slight extent in the mortality table,
and Hooping Cough, which has never left us, caused 19 deaths, a large
number for the month.

Nevertheless the parish is altogether in a healthy condition, the deaths during the month being only at the rate of 20½ per 1000 per annum, the rate for London generally having been 233/4.
