for two years. The only domestic use of cream of tartar is as a
dentifrice, and for making imperial drink and ginger beer. I can with
difficulty understand the recklessness of a man who would supply
himself with any article thus used in so irregular a manner. The case
illustrates the folly of purchasing articles of pharmacy where such
articles form no part of the legitimate trade, and where therefore there
can be no implied guarantee of their genuine character, for the sake of
saving a penny or two upon the price which might be charged at a
chemist's. I need scarcely add that I took measures for the destruction
of the entire bulk of poison, which was at once given up to me for that
purpose.

The highest day temperature, observed on December 16th and 18th was 55.0°
The lowest night temperature, observed on December 28th was 23.0°.
