The zymotic diseases which have furnished the greatest number of
deaths are small-pox 15, only one of which was the death of a female;
scarlet fever 17, hooping cough 18, and fever 10. Fifteen deaths have
been registered as due to apoplexy, a number twice as large as has
been registered in any January for the last 10 years.
I regret to say that a renewed outbreak of cattle plague has occurred
in the sheds of Mrs. Nicholls in the Liverpool Road, the first case
happening on January 27th. The stock has all been slaughtered, a
proceeding it is to be hoped will prevent the extension of the disease.
EDWARD BALLARD, M.D.,
Medical Officer of Health.
Vestry Offices,
February 4th, 1867.
