REPORT
on the
SANITARY CONDITION OF ST. MARY, ISLINGTON,
FOR AUGUST, 1865.
No. CI.
The reduction of temperature together with an increased rain fall
has had a beneficial influence upon the public health of the district.
The mortality has fallen from 329 in four weeks to 215. In fact,
whereas the deaths during July were 46 above the average, those that
have been registered during August have been 57 below the average.
The deaths from diarrhoea, &c., have fallen suddenly, and from being 94
in July have amounted only to 28 during the past few weeks. Indeed
the mortality from bowel complaints has been very much less than is
usual in August. Altogether it has been with us a healthy month.
EDWARD BALLARD, M.D.,
Medical Officer of Health.
Vestry Offices,
September 8th, 1865.
