sufficiently well established to warrant me in urging at this time especial
vigilance with regard to this source of disease. During the month of April,
no less than 111 cases of small-pox were admitted into the Small-Pox
Hospital; making a total of 313 since the commencement of the year. The
number of cases that have appeared in Islington is comparatively smal1; but,
since this disease is prevailing to a much greater extent in neighbouring
parishes, it behoves the authorities here to continue their efforts to induce
such as are unprotected by Vaccination no longer to delay availing themselves
of this invaluable safeguard. It is the more important now, because
the Small-Pox Hospital is nearly full, and the milder but not less infectious
cases will have to be treated at home.
