During- the year special inquiries were made and reports furnished to the
Ministry of Health on deaths from this cause.
ACCIDENTAL DEATHS.
The deaths due to accident numbered 124. Of this number 56 were due to
vehicular traffic, as against 41 in the previous year. The vehicles causing these
deaths may be summarised as follow :
Motor Car or Lorry. Bus or Tram. Taxi-cab. Other Vehicles. Total.

It is only fair to say, however, that 21 of these deaths occurred to Islington
residents when outside the district.
Eleven deaths of non-residents were also killed by vehicles w ithin the Borough.
INQUESTS AND MORTUARY.
During the year 275 bodies were received into the Mortuary, as compared with
an average of 405 in the preceding 10 years.
No infectious body was received during the year.
The daily average number of bodies received was 0.7 as compared with 0.8
in 1924.

In 306 cases inquests were held, as contrasted with an average of 342 in the ten years 1915-24.
