The third quarter was also particularly healthy, as with one
exception the death.rate (11.27 per 1,000) was below any that had been previously
known in the Borough, as contrasted with a mean decennial rate
of 14.23 per 1,000. The deaths numbered 984, or 258 below the decennial
average.
The fourth quarter was also very healthy, the deaths numbering 1,298,
or 129 less than the corrected average of the preceding 10 years, while the
death.rate reached only 13.81 per 1,000 inhabitants, as compared with a
mean decennial rate of 16.35. The death.rate was the lowest rate that had
hitherto been recorded in Islington during the fourth quarter.
Full particulars as to the causes of death have been published in the
Medical Officer of Health's reports for these several periods of the year,
so that there is no occasion to further dwell on them.
