During the year, in addition to my inspections, there were 316 inspections
of bakehouses, including 42 inspections of the factory bakehouses.
Fourteen notices were served for various sanitary defects.
HOME WORK.
All the out—workers' premises were inspected at least once during the year by
the Lady Sanitary Inspector, details of which are given in the table. Many
inspections of home—workers' premises are also made during house to house
and periodical inspections of lodging houses and dwelling houses in which home—
workers reside.

homework are given in Table IX. of the Appendix.
INDUSTRIAL EMPLOYMENT OF WOMEN
The present Factory and Workshop Act prohibits the employment of a
woman or girl within four weeks after she has given birth to a child. Further
regulation was recommended by the Physical Deterioration Committee in 1904,
and the Conference on Infantile Mortality in 1906.
