brought forward a scheme for two dispensaries, which you have accepted.
It now only awaits the sanction of the Local Government Board and the London
County Council to enable you to complete the arrangements with the two
hospitals, which have undertaken to perform the necessary work, and to
commence operations forthwith. I sincerely trust that these dispensaries
will prove to be a real blessing to the persons who may be attacked with this
dire disease, as well as to the community at large.
I desire once more to thank the Chairman, Councillor Harwood, and
members of the Public Health Committee, for the care and patience with
which they have considered the many reports submitted by me from time
to time, as well as for the courtesy they have extended towards myself.
I cannot conclude without drawing attention to the willing manner in
which the staff of the Public Health Department, from the Superintendent
(Mr. J. R. Leggatt) downwards, have endeavoured to discharge the ever
increasing duties which the legislation of the last few years has imposed on
them.
I have the honour to be,
Your obedient servant,
Medical Officer of Health.
31st July, 1914.
