Of the 1,114 failures to notify to the Medical Officer of Health, it has
been ascertained on inquiry that:
In 742 instances the mother was attended by a doctor.
In 72 instances the mother was attended by a midwife.
In 33 instances the father was not at home within 6 hours of the birth.
In 267 instances no information could be obtained for the reasons which
follow:—
Information refused.
Wrong address on certificates.
Futile calls.
Removal from the house since birth of child.
Death of child before registration.
The following statement shows by whom the notifications were made since the Act came into operation:—
