To the Medical Officer of Health.
Dear Sir,—
I have pleasure in submitting the following report bearing on the duties of the
Inspector of Meat and other Foods for the year 1913.
Slaughterhouse Inspection.—There were 28 slaughterhouses on the register at the
commencement of the year, but as the licence of one situate at the rear of 234 Holloway
Road, was allowed to lapse, the number at the end of the year was 27, to which 1,579 visits
were paid. With a few exceptions they have been well conducted. Non-observance of the
byelaw as to periodical limewashing where the premises were not in constant use being
the chief exception.

The number of animals slaughtered in them was as follows, viz.:—

Oxen.Calves.Sheep and Lambs.Pigs.Total.
9372530,343031,305

These figures compare with those for the year 1912, as follows:—
