student, considerably addicted to drink, who lived in a northern seaport town,
where he eked out an existence by selling prescriptions to sailors suffering from
venereal diseases, of which he had no special knowledge. The result, of
course, was very bad for those who took his advice.

Besides, it does not bear thinking that the name of an innocent married woman, infected by her husband, should be made known to any officials, however worthy they may be, or however secret they may keep the information.

DEATHS IN PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS.
Within the Borough.—1,938 persons died in the Public Institutions
located in Islington, of whom 1,361 belonged to this Borough, the remaining
577 having come here for treatment or relief. Among the latter were 395
persons who died in the Holborn Infirmary, and 82 in the Great Northern
Central Hospital, 17 in the Islington Infirmary, 8 in the Islington Workhouses,
5 in the London Fever Hospital, 9 in St. Pelagia's Creche, 8 in the
Memorial Cottage Hospital, and 8 in the Aged Blind Home.
