occupiers of 45, Essex Road (a provision shop selling cooked meat) were heard at Clerkenwell
Police Court on the 26th June, and adjourned until July 3rd for separate service of
the summonses on a joint occupier whose liability was previously denied. After three
further hearings the magistrate imposed a fine of £l 0s. 0d. with £1 6s. Od. costs on the first
summons, and adjourned the hearing of those under the London County Council General
Powers Act for three months that the premises might be kept under observation.
Having been appointed an Inspector under the National Health Insurance Commission
(England) I have tendered my resignation of the position of Sanitary Inspector of
Workshops in this Borough.

•Mrs. Young resigned her position in Islington on October, 1912, having been in the service
of the Borough Council since November 1906 ; during which time she performed much valuable
work.

Sir,
1 beg to submit to you the following report of my work during the year 1912. The
following inspections and visits have been made during that period :—
Inspections of Factories 210
Inspections of Workshops 1,256
Inspections of Workplaces 17
Miscellaneous re-inspections and visits 2,313
Total 3,796
Factories.—There were on the register at the end of the year 194 factories employing
women, twenty having been added during that period and 17 removed.
