The Cleansing and Spraying of Rooms. -1,628 rooms, as contrasted with 1,749 in 1916, were cleansed and sprayed.

The following class-rooms, etc., were disinfected after the occurrence in
them of cases of the diseases mentioned:—
1st Quarter. Nil.
2nd Quarter. Guardians' Schools (Measles).
3rd Quarter. Guardians' Schools (Diphtheria).
4th Quarter. Thornhill Road, L.C.C. Schools (Scarlet Fever).
Colebrooke School, Duncan Terrace (Scarlet Fever).
Work at the Disinfecting Station.—42,237 large articles of bedding,
etc., as detailed below, were disinfected by the steam disinfectors, at the
Council's Disinfecting Station, compared with 50,064 similar articles disinfected
during the previous year.
In addition to the above articles 77,621 old or second-hand garments,
mostly soldiers' overcoats, jackets and tunics were disinfected for clothing
contractors trading in the borough, who paid the Council for the work,
amounting to the sum of £91 16s. 10d.
