Notices Served.—In consequence of the 1,217 sanitary defects discovered as the
result of the inspections above; 228 intimations and 28 statutory notices were served.
Of these notices 67 were served on the owners of factories, 101 on the owners of workshops
and workplaces, and 39 on the owners of bakehouses and restaurant kitchens. In addition
to these nuisances, 99 were discovered on Outworkers' premises, necessitating the
service of 49 notices. Prosecutions were instituted in 4 instances, with the result that
fines and costs amounting to £44 9s. were imposed.
Registers.—There were 1,831 workshops on the Register, as contrasted with 1,691
in 1921, while the total number of workrooms was 2,621 as contrasted with 2,392
in the previous year; 275 workshops were added to the Register, while 135 were remove 1
from it.
