Public Health (Pneumonia, Malaria, Dysentery, etc.) Regulations, 1919.
These Regulations came into force on the 7th January, 1919, and during the 4 years. the following cases were notified by medical practitioners to the Medical Officer of Health:

Acute Encephalitis Lethargica and Acute Polio-Encephalitis.
These diseases became notifiable under an Order of the Local Government Board on
the 1st January, 1919, and during the year 3 cases of Acute Encephalitis Lethargica
were notified, all of which proved fatal. No case of Acute Polio-Encephalitis was known
in the Borough.

Tuberculosis.
During the year 707 cases of Tuberculosis in its different forms were notified. The
attack-rate was equal to 2.12 per 1,000 of the civil population. This number shows a
decrease of 54 on the return of the previous year, and of 016 per 1,000 on the attack-rate.
It was also 73 below the number in 1920.
Respiratory (Pulmonary) Tuberculosis.—570 notifications were Received,
Of which 339 referred to males and 231 to females, and represented an attack-rate
of 1.71 per 1,000. The return was a decrease of 82 on that of 1921, and 93 on 1920.
