Registration Sub-Districts.—The total number of cases notified in these
districts was as follows:

Small Pox.—No case was notified in the Borough during the year. The average
number of cases during the preceding ten years was only 0.4.
Diphtheria was responsible for 1,126 cases of illness, which were 376 above the
average (750) of the preceding ten years. The attack-rate was equal to 3.37 per 1,000
of the civil population annually, and was 1.01 above the mean rate (2.36) of the
decennial period.
In London the attack-rate was 3.40 per 1,000, and the Encircling Boroughs 3.31.
Scarlet Fever.—1,496 cases were notified, and they showed an increase of 309
or 26 per cent. on the average (1,187) of the ten years 1912-21. The attack-rate was
equal to 4.48 per 1,000 of the civil population annually, which is an increase of 0 75 per
1,000 of the mean rate (3.73) of the preceding ten years. In London the attack rate was
3.83 per 1,000 of the civil population, while in the Encircling Boroughs it was 3.95.
Enteric Fever.—Only 9 cases were notified, a decrease of 25 on the average (34)
that obtained during the ten years 1912-21. The attack-rate was 0.03 per 1,000 annually, or
0.08 per 1,000 below the mean rate (0.11) of the last ten years.
In London the rate was 0.06, and in the Encircling Boroughs 0.04 per 1,000 of the
eivil population.
