INFANTILE MORTALITY.
Infant Deaths, 579; Mortality Rate, 77.—There were 579 deaths among
infants under twelve months old during the year, or 108 below the decennial average (687),
and they represented an infant mortality rate of 77 per 1,000 infants born. This rate is
17 per 1,000 births below the mean annual record of the preceding ten years, and only
upon one occasion has a lower rate been recorded in Islington, viz: 72 per 1,000 births
in 1920.
In the quarters the mortality ranged from 107 per 1,000 births in the first quarter,
74 in the second, 52 in the third, and 74 in the fourth.

In the sub-registration districts the infant mortality was as follows :
