DEATHS FROM THE DISEASES OF THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM.
(Exclusive of Tuberculosis and Influenza).
These diseases, which include Chronic and Acute Bronchitis, Pneumonia, Pleurisy
and Asthma, caused 598 deaths, or 308 more than in 1922. They were equal to a death-rate
of 178 per 1,000 of the civil population, and represented 15 3 per cent, of the total deaths
registered in the Borough.
Acute Bronchitis.—There were 80 deaths as compared with 130 in the previous
year. 32 occurred among males, and 48 among females. The deaths of 7 infants under
12 months were registered.
