The general prevalence of diseases of the respiratory organs,
in addition to that of Scarlet Fever, has materially increased
the Quarterly Return of Deaths; yet in comparing the numbers
with those of the corresponding Quarter in 1857, the Deaths
are found to be 1 less, and if increase of population be considered,
would be 75 less:—we may thus fairly consider the
Parishes as representing a fair average state of health. The
temperature in November having reached 20 degrees below
freezing point, greatly increased that month's mortality, as
evidenced by the number of Deaths arising from Phthisis,
