The evening club is well attended by the residents who receive woodwork instruction.
The afternoon club at this hostel for severely subnormal clients is well established and two mental
health social workers ensure that all take an active part in the activities. Transport is provided for the
clients.
Gateway Club (Terrace Day Centre, 1 St. Mary's Terrace, W.2.)
The social club for subnormal adolescents run by the City of Westminster Society for Mentally
Handicapped Children is very successful and well attended. The City Council has allocated a room
at Terrace Day Centre for the Society's club.
Beauchamp Lodge Club for Subnormal Patients
This is open one evening each week and attendance is most encouraging.
Attendance at this Centre remains high, 59 patients were on the roll at December (1969 - 51), five of whom were patients from other London Boroughs.

Beauchamp Lodge Social Club, 2 Warwick Crescent, W.2
This establishment is run by a voluntary organisation and financial assistance is given by the City
Council.
Two club meetings are held each week and an average of 30 patients participate in functions
arranged by the mental health social workers who are present on these occasions. (1969-30).
Methodist Church Hall, Ebury Bridge Road, S.W.1
This club was newly formed in 1969 and mental health social workers have organised a weekly
meeting for patients from South Westminster. Twelve persons attend regularly (1969 - 12) and
transport is arranged for them to and from this club.
The aim of these clubs is to provide facilities for social communication, to encourage its expression
and to provide a focal point for people living in isolation.

Our resources have been fully occupied throughout 1970 in our endeavours to help the varied
group of people suffering from mental disorder who have been referred to us for rehabilitation.
