VISITORS TO THE DEPARTMENT
In addition to the practical training provided for student health visitors, state-enrolled and district
nursing students, pupil midwives, student nursery nurses and student public health inspectors
on the establishment of the Health Department, no fewer than 792 people were welcomed for
visits of observation in 1967.
This large number included visitors from abroad—amongst whom were students in hospital
administration studying at the City of Westminster College—as well as doctors attending the
course for the Diploma in Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine,
matrons from old people's homes, student nurses from four teaching hospitals, social workers,
child care officers, and house mothers.
These visits embraced all activities of the Health Department and proved interesting and
stimulating to the staff involved.
