Food and Drugs Act, 1955—Section 16
Registration of premises in connection with the manufacture, sale or
storage of ice cream.
Two hundred and seventy-five premises are registered for the manufacture
and/or sale and/or storage of ice cream.
Registration, of premises used for the preparation or manufacture of
preserved foods.
Sixty-nine premises are registered for the preparation or manufacture
of preserved foods.
Ice Cream (Heat Treatment) Regulations, 1959
During the year, 94 samples of ice cream were submitted for examination
by the methylene blue test, and were classified in the following
provisional grades as recommended by the Ministry of Health:

It will be noted that nine samples failed to reach a satisfactory grading,
and of these only four were placed in the lowest grade.
Two of these latter samples were from manufacturers who have
premises in Westminster, but subsequent samples taken showed a satisfactory
grading.
