In March, 1956, the Minister of Housing and Local Government
approved the proposals for dealing with houses which are unfit for
human habitation submitted by the City Council, jointly with the
London County Council, in pursuance of Section 1 of the Housing Repairs
and Rents Act, 1954. The proposals were described in my Report for
1955 and the progress made during 1956 for dealing with them is set out
below.

that demolition was the most
satisfactory way of dealing with
them and had, therefore, decided
not to confirm the Order.

property by conversion, but the reconstruction
work required proved to be so extensive that
the properties were completely demolished in
May, 1957.)

Conduit Court Nos. 1, 2, 3 15th August, 1956.
