Of the 119 cases removed from the register during the year 1938,
68 were on account of death, 48 persons suffering from tuberculosis
moved from the City and notification was withdrawn in 3 cases.
The total number of cases of tuberculosis on the Register at the end
of 1938 was 1,675 (as compared with 1,565 at the end of the year 1937),
of which 1,292 were pulmonary cases, consisting of 866 males and 426
females.
Deaths from Tuberculosis.—The total number of deaths from tuberculosis
for 1938 (all forms) was 70—males 46, females 24. This gives a
death-rate for this disease of 0.56 per 1,000.
