1,606 deaths were registered in the City during 1936. After
deducting 994 deaths of non-citizens in public institutions, etc., in
the City, and adding those of 865 citizens who died in other districts,
the corrected total is 1,477 as compared with 1,436 in 1935, and is
equivalent to an annual crude rate of 11.9 per 1,000 persons compared
with 11.5 last year.
The London death-rate for 1936 was 12.5 and for England and
Wales, 12.1.
The number of deaths and the death-rates per 1,000 for the past
fifteen years are shown below :—
