"Pasteurized" is applicable both where "Accredited" milk
and where ungraded milk is pasteurized in accordance with requirements
of the Order.
The Order prescribed maximum fees for various classes of licences
and permitted licensing authorities to charge a lower scale of fees or
dispense altogether with the payment of fees. The City Council
decided to charge the maximum fees for the licences issued.
The following dealers' licences were issued by the Council during
the year:—
Certified milk 13
Grade A (Tuberculin tested) milk 20
Grade A milk 6
Pasteurized milk 36
Grade A pasteurized milk 3
Eleven samples of Certified milk were examined bacteriologically at
the request of the Ministry of Health, two of which contained a bacterial
count in excess of the number permitted by the above Order.
Pasteurization of milk is not undertaken at any premises in the City.

Registration of Dairymen and Dairy Premises.—Premises where milk
is not sold otherwise than in sealed receptacles as received, need not be
registered with the local authority, although the purveyor must be
registered.

The inspectors paid 354 visits to milk shops and dairies during the
year. Six notices were served in respect of minor defects which were
duly rectified.
