The Act provides that a certificate may be granted exempting a shop
from the provision of the Act with regard to sanitary conveniences if the
sanitary authority are satisfied that by reason of restricted accommodation
or other special circumstances affecting the shop it is reasonable that
such a certificate shall be in force and that such conveniences are otherwise
conveniently available.
Thirteen certificates of exemption were granted.

Occupations and Workshops.—In the following tables are shown in
detail the number and variety of work premises on the register at the end
of 1935, the number of inspections made, and the results of such inspections:—

The use of 115 workshops was discontinued, and 238 additions were
