The following report and tables of statistics required by the
Ministry of Health are submitted by Dr. Ian S. Thomson, Tuberculosis
Officer and Assistant Medical Officer of Health.
City of Westminster Tuberculosis Dispensary.
Annual Report, 1935.
The work of the Dispensary has been carried on throughout the year
on the established lines.
Four hundred and twenty-five new cases were seen during the year,
of which two hundred and thirty were considered to be tubercular. These
cases classed as tubercular for Dispensary purposes do not all show
evidence of recent active disease.
The number of new cases during 1935 is lower by 39 than the corresponding
figure for 1934, though slightly higher than that for 1933.
These figures have a definite relation to the number of cases of tuberculosis
notified in the City in the particular year. The sources of reference of
new cases to the Dispensary during the last three years are shown in the
following table. The proportion from each source shows comparatively
little variation from year to year.
