During the year repairs and decorations were carried out at the Court
and Mortuary premises at a cost of £577. The works included the renewal
of the floors in the Court, post mortem and viewing rooms, etc., the rewiring
and replacement of certain electric light fittings, internal and external
painting and a general overhaul of the roofs and of the fixtures and
fittings inside and out.
The premises are so well equipped and up to date that representatives
from several other local authorities have paid visits of inspection. In June,
the Chairman of the special committee, Mr. H. S. E. Vanderpant, who
dealt with the improvements, invited a company of interested parties
including representatives from the Ministry of Health, London County
Council, the City of London, the London School of Hygiene and
Tropical Medicine, the Coroners of the City of London and Westminster
and certain eminent pathologists to meet the Chairman of the Public
Health Committee and other representative members of the City
Council. After being entertained at lunch the party was conveyed to
the Court for a visit of inspection.
