(2) An outbreak of suspected food poisoning occurred at a small
restaurant. All the members of the staff were affected to a greater or less
degree with severe abdominal pains. Two of them, who resided on the
premises, were somewhat seriously ill, and confined to bed for a number
of days. Blood tests were taken from these two patients, but with
negative results as far as the food poisoning group of organisms were
concerned. No evidence of any inorganic irritant having been the cause
was discovered.
