The legitimate births show a decrease of 43 and the illegitimate a
decrease of 16 on the figures of 1931.
As shown in Table I, 1,594 notifications of births were received by
the Department for 1932 as compared with 1,589 in 1931. Of the total
of notifications, 692 were sent by midwives, of whom 30 were practising
in the City during 1932.
The following Table shows the number of male and female children born since 1916, and those who did not survive the first year of life, with the number of the surviving children at the end of the first year of life Table III.
