* This figure includes 129 visits of enquiry in respect of smallpox contacts.
Restriction of Rent Acts.— Nine applications were received for
certificates under these Acts, but in only three cases were the applications
granted.
Nuisances.— Intimation notices were served in 1,244 instances, the
number of premises concerned being 1,182. Statutory notices authorised
by the sanitary authority numbered 62 and related to 59 premises. Police
court proceedings as detailed below were taken in 5 instances in order to
enforce compliance with the requirements of statutory notices.
