1,740 deaths were registered in the City during 1931. After
deducting 1,006 deaths of non-citizens in public institutions, etc., in
the City, and adding those of 875 citizens who died in other districts,
the corrected total is 1,609, as compared with 1,478 in 1930, and is
equivalent to an annual rate of 13.9 per 1,000 persons (civilian
population), compared with 12'2 last year.
The London death-rate for 1931 was 12.4 (civilians only), for England
