Meteorological.
It has been usual for some years past to add a note as to climatic
conditions throughout the year, for these sometimes have an influence
on health generally and vital statistics. Deficiency in sunshine was a
marked feature and what is more important, sunshine was lacking in the
period when it is most expected, April to September, inclusive. This
may well have been a factor of importance in increasing the general
death rate, infantile mortality rate and the death rate from pulmonary
