Restriction of Rent Acts.—Two applications were received for
certificates under these Acts, but in neither case was the application
acceded to.
Nuisances.—Intimation notices were served in 1,239 instances, the
number of premises concerned being 1,197. Statutory notices served
by the sanitary authority numbered 72 and related to 70 premises. Police
court proceedings were taken in 5 instances in order to enforce compliance
with the requirements of statutory notices, which related to dirty and
defective conditions in dwelling-houses, including in one instance,
failure to provide water supply to an upper floor. In 3 cases the
summonses were withdrawn; £2 2s. costs being awarded in each of two
cases; in the third, the magistrate refused to make any order as to
