The Handicrafts Class, also described in previous reports, has continued
its useful work throughout the year. The attendances and the
results have been very satisfactory.
A separate report on the work of the City of Westminster Tuberculosis
Care Committee has been prepared by the Secretary, Miss A. Sanders.
The report deals with the inclusive period 1928-1929, and gives an
excellent survey of the aims of the Committee and the work which it
has accomplished. As regards contributions towards the cost of
sanatorium treatment, it is interesting to find that almost two-thirds of
the cases during the past four years have been assessed as "free" by
the Committee. Perhaps the most important feature of the report
relates to the work of the Handicrafts Committee, which has been
fortunate in securing the Mayoress as its President. The Handicrafts
Class organized by this Committee, and maintained with difficulty on a
purely voluntary basis, is one of the most useful measures that could
have been conceived as part of an anti-tuberculosis campaign.
