50
cases who had not attended recently but were liable to return also left
Westminster. The number of incoming cases is apparently much
smaller.
The number of cases of Tuberculosis notified annually in Westminster
is now less than half the number notified annually ten years ago. It is
probable that in the last two or three years the number of new cases
each year who can become regular Dispensary patients is considerably
less than the number who cease attendance owing to recovery, removal
or death. It would seem probable, therefore, that there will be in the
future a definite diminution of the work of the Dispensary, but it does not,
at present, seem likely that this decline will be great enough in the
immediate future to warrant any change in the existing arrangements at
the Dispensary.
It is possible, of course, that the decline in incidence may not continue
uninterrupted. The children born during the War have not yet
reached the adolescent years which are so serious for the tuberculous.
