In this table all primary notifications are included, and also other
new cases of tuberculosis coming to the knowledge of the Medical Officer
of Health during the year.
The total cases for 1929 show a total increase of 65 on those of 1928.
There was an increase of 24 males and 48 females among the pulmonary
cases, but as the increase of primary notifications was distributed more
or less evenly throughout the four quarters of the year, the rise in the 1929
figures must be attributed to the non-notified deaths; 27 of these
occurred during the first two quarters of the year, which, with the increased
number of deaths from influenza and other respiratory diseases,
was associated with the severe winter of 1928-9. Out of the total cases
notified in 1929. 41 died, and the following table shows the period between
notification and death of these cases:—
