Table XXV. Influenza.—The deaths certified from this cause during the last five years are as follows:—

The death-rate in 1929 for Westminster was 0.76 per 1,000; for
London 0.69, and for England and Wales 0.74. Last year the corresponding
rates were 0.13 for Westminster. 0.13 for London, and
0.19 for England and Wales.
Diarrhœa and Enteritis.—Deaths from this cause were much lower
than in 1928. The total deaths were 8—3 males and 5 females—7
being under 1 year old. The infant death-rate from this cause in
Westminster was 5.8.

The 7 deaths under 1 year of age occurred during the 2nd and 3rd
quarters of the year.
Whooping Cough.—246 cases were notified during the year, with
19 deaths—11 being under 1 year. This is a huge increase on the
figures of 1928, when 70 cases, with 3 deaths, were recorded. 30 cases
were moved to hospital. The death-rate for Westminster was 0.15, for
London 0.26, and for England and Wales 0.15.
