Staff: The Council having considered reports on the steadily
increasing duties which fall to the Department, relieved Mr. John
Sanderson, Senior Sanitary Inspector, of his duties as district inspector,
and appointed him to assist the Medical Officer of Health in certain special
matters and to exercise general supervision over the sanitary conditions
in the City. Mr. Davies, a fully qualified Sanitary Inspector holding also
the Meat and Food Certificate, was appointed as an additional Sanitary
Inspector. Other changes following re-organization of the Department
were the appointment of Mr. A. Wise to the position of Chief Clerk .and the
promotion of Messrs. A. J. Manhood and W. F. Lake, Second Division
clerks carrying out highly responsible duties, to the grade of 1st Division.
In order to deal with the increasing clerical work an additional clerk was
appointed in the person of Mr. F. E. Norwood, who began his duties as
Junior Clerk in October, 1929.
I would again, in conclusion, express my gratitude to the Chairman,
Vice-Chairman and members of the Public Health Committee for their
constant support, and to the staff of the Department my appreciation
of the cheerful assistance which they have rendered.
I have the honour to be,
Your obedient Servant,
Andrew J. Shinnie.
